How do you feel about those tax bills?

Jerry Isenhart ~ GoLakeChelan.comHere is a place you can post your opinions for the world, and the assessor to see.  It has been a couple of weeks since we received those new tax assessments and bills from the assessor’s office.  Were you surprised?
Was it more… or less… of a change than you expected?

mortaxs licenseI have several properties in the county and local area.
I had surprises both directions.
Don’t get me wrong, nothing went down.
It may be that I had such an expectation of increase that when one or two didn’t go up quite as much as I feared,
that surprised me a little.  On the other hand, I had a couple that went WAY up! And now … more than surprised,  I am also concerned.

  1. There is a good discussion that started awhile back over at Lake Wenatchee Info. You can see it here -
    http://www.lakewenatcheeinfo.com/2008/sticker-shock/

They say there are always 3 values for a home - what someone wants to pay (very little), what they want it to be worth (quite a bit), and what they want it to be assessed at. (close to nothing)

Assessed values went up (especially at Lk Wen) because property values went up. Please raise your hand if you would rather own a home in Detroit right now..I didn’t think so. I will take rising taxes and property values over sinking property values any day.
