How Great Amenities Improve Property Value in the Lake Wenatchee Area
A nicely written article on the snowmobile trail grooming in the Fish Lake/Lake Wenatchee area ran in yesterday’s Wenatchee World. The work these folks do and the quality of the recreational experience has not gone unnoticed in the world.
The demand for properties in the area has skyrocketed in the last 15 years as the reputation of the area as an all season recreation paradise has grown. My family frequents this area and has owned a small cabin in the area since the early 90’s.
You can cross country ski, ride snowmobiles, dual-sport riding, hike, fish, kayak, golf or just enjoy the mountains and lakes. As the area evolves, all of the activities just seem to keep getting better. An active recreation club, the Kahler Glen development, Plain Hardware, Plain Grocery, The Midway and residents and visitors that invest in the area have kept the game getting better and better.
I was surprised to see a nearly $700k spec home going up in our little subdivision of cottages, cabins and mostly rural homes. Last I saw, it hadn’t sold yet, but it does show the level of interest in the area that the great amenities help create.

Yes, the area around Lake Wenatchee and Plain sure has taken off in recent years. I wouldn’t use anecdotal evidence of one spec house as a trend. I expect that market realities will be very different than that builder in CRP is expecting.
