Possible PUD Policy Change Discontinuing Dock Permits

On the agenda for the Monday meeting on February 11 was a resolution to discontinue issuance of new permits for docks on district owned lands for private use.  This affects PUD owned lands in the Rocky Reach, Rock Island and Lake Chelan Reservoirs.  A link to the agenda is available here.

The resolution was NOT adopted, but continued for 30 days to allow more information to be presented on the topic.

If you have property in one of these reservoirs, this could have an impact on you.  Even if you don’t have plans in the near future to build a dock, this could potentially impact the value of your property.

It can be work to be a property owner these days.  The counties and cities are updating their land use and zoning on a regular basis.  Homeowners’ associations often update rules.  And, even the PUD can impact your property.  You can have a voice and impact these decisions, but you have to get involved.  Write letters, send e-mails or attend meetings if you to make sure you can use your property as you intend to in the future.

If you would like to contact your PUD commissioner, their contact information can be found here

UPDATE:  The Wenatchee World published an article today as well you can find here.  It includes interviews with some property owners and PUD representatives and gives a pretty balanced report on the concerns about this issue.
