Home Sales Levels in Wenatchee

On December 23rd, the Wenatchee World printed this article.
on the sales rates in the Wenatchee area. It further stated that home sales were down 10% from 2006, but were still at a higher level than before the boom.

That’s great for Wenatchee and shows the strength of the economy locally. I have seen good activity on commercial properties in the area as well. I appears the national housing market is impacting the market, but the robust growth and economy in Wenatchee is insulating us locally from what many areas of the country are seeing.

Wenatchee Home Values Top Nation for the Third Time

On 11/30 the Wenatchee World had this article on Wenatchee’s home values.

While it is encouraging that Wenatchee is still seeing year to year appreciation, the appreciation for August to October was 15.7% compared to last year. The quarter before, it was 23.5%.

So, did prices drop 7.8% quarter to quarter? Actually, the numbers in Wenatchee are statistically usually a pretty small sample, so I would expect variation. Wouldn’t it be great if these articles actually showed more numbers so we could “do the math” ourselves? Of course, doing the math might change the headline…
